Not many youngsters are natural lead dogs like Icy. Most require some element of training, but Icy took to it 'like a duck to water'. Well under a year in age he was leading large teams in training, and so on joining our main 'B' class race team in 1994 he did so as lead partner to Toaki, taking over from Ditko, truly a hard act to follow.
Icy, like his Sire, did not enjoy close attention and 'hugs'. He was a professional through and through, quite serious in nature and not a 'play baby' like his litter mate Frisky. He was indeed head of our pack for many years having served his apprenticeship under Willie. Scottie became Icy's deputy and in later years Icy was happy to hand over the day to day management to Scottie. Icy brought together the classic qualities of the mainly Anadyr type of Toaki and the Lokiboden/Igloo Pak qualities of his dam Kriya. Icy was always the first on your team sheet post Toaki, and in later years moved back in the team to run wheel as those youngsters set a faster pace.
Not an easy chap to show, but he had a golden patch as a veteran and his movement was hard to ignore. The foot and mouth epidemic brought an end to his career in the ring, since without the hard condition of regular running in harness he was never quite able to recapture and exhibit his obvious qualities.
Sheila selected Icy as a pup, and he remained very much her dog throughout his life.

Runner up BSDRA 'B' class championship 1994/95 and 95/96
Winner BSHRA 'B' class championship 1996/97 and 2000/01
Runner up BSHRA 'B' class championship 2001/02 and 2002/03
Winner BSHRA 'C' class championship 1998/99 and 99/2000
Runner up BSHRA 'C' class championship 1997/98
Shortly after the 2003 race season Icy contracted/developed Addison's
desease on a significant scale, thus curtailing his twilight running years.
He managed this through medication until leaving us in 2007.

In the show ring:
Won a total of 10 CC's and 12 RCC's
Gained his Ch title under Chris Barry at SKC in 1998
Won three CC's in a period of six days in 2000
Won BIS at the SHCGB 'Speciality' Ch show in 2000 under Karsten Gronas
RBIS at SHCGB 'Speciality' Ch show in 1997 under Diane Gale
Winner of SHCGB and SSHC 'Top male Siberian' awards.
